English to Speakers of Other Languages

Rome Middle provides support for English Language Learners in grades 7-8. The English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) program provides instruction to develop students' proficiency in English in the four areas of language: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

Students receive support with pull-out and push-in delivery models.  A pull-out delivery model provides students support out of a general education class for the purpose of receiving small group instruction from the ESOL teacher.  A push-in delivery model provides students support within their core academic class of reading, language arts, mathematics, science, or social studies for the purpose of receiving content instruction from the content teacher and language instruction from the ESOL teacher.
